From the Daily Struggle to Signing a Lease – Aloha’s Journey to Office Space

Over the past two years since Aloha Wealth Partners opened our doors to clients, we’ve been operating on countertops, kitchen tables, couches, patio furniture, park benches, in the driver seat of a Subaru forester… I mean, the list goes on. Of course, the stay-at-home orders, social distancing and shutdowns were a large factor in preventing us from getting a dedicated space to work, but they weren’t the only things. Suffice to say, we’ve come out of the pandemic stronger than I ever thought possible and I’m so stoked to say that we finally have an “office”.
Part of the reason why I named the firm Aloha Wealth Partners is because I live on a street called Aloha drive. My thought was that during the first couple of years, I could work from home while I built up the practice enough to where it would warrant me getting a small space because, let’s be 100% honest here – working as a financial planner in a 700 square foot house during a global pandemic with a 12 month old is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do (mad props to all those out there who were in the same position as I was). Every day was an emotional battle to be a caring and present father and husband while also having that constant feeling of needing to grow because my family depended on it. The struggle was most certainly real.
The new spot is an executive suite located in Solana Beach/Del Mar area off Marine View Ave at a place called “The Timbers”. It hosts a beautiful atrium in the center of the property with tropical foliage, a waterfall, a koi fish pond and an atmosphere that resembles that of the Swamis self-realization fellowship meditation gardens. I love walking into this place because before we even begin working, we’re able start the day with a sense of gratitude – something I’ve found that helps us be the best versions of ourselves.
Anyway, the point here is that I’m so lucky and am so thankful for the opportunity to have our own office and to provide a space for ourselves and our clients as we start this new year. I’m equally as fired up to begin 2022 with a killer team – Chase Mason and Justin Johnson, where you at?! Chase is our resident Certified Financial Planner guru and our go-to for all things Traeger grills or food in general. Justin currently helps maintain our workflow and studying for his insurance and securities licenses. He’s well on way to becoming a successful financial advisor. We’ve got lofty goals for this year, but our expectations are equally as high to deliver on our mission to give back to our communities both on the mainland and in Hawaii.
Thank you again to all our clients, friends and most importantly, family. Your support gives us the courage to challenge the status quo and bring a new flavor of professionalism, compassion, and an abundance mindset to an industry that in our opinion, needs a little fresh air.
Hele kaua!
(let’s go!)
